Hello and good day fellow readers.
Today, I am going to share the recipe of Famous Amos Inspired Chocolate Cookies. This is a recipe that is shared by my precious roommie when I was studying in UiTM Bandaraya Melaka. But, I do altered some of the recipes according to my taste.
Before I begin explaining the steps that need to be taken, let us dive into the list of ingredients first:
Before I begin explaining the steps that need to be taken, let us dive into the list of ingredients first:
Ingredients needed or Famous Amos Inspired Chocolate Cookies: (amount for 53 cookies)
Extra materials needed to bake (if available)- 160g or 2/3 cup of Butter -room temperature- (I used Buttercup)
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 200g or 1 3/4 cups of flour
- 1 teaspoon of bicarbonate soda.
- 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder
- 80g or 1/3 cup of caster sugar
- 100g of nuts (almond/hazelnut/walnut etc. up to your taste)
- 200g or 2 cups of chocolate chip (depends on you whether to use semi-sweet or dark)
- Parchment Paper for the tray
- Ice-cream scoop to estimate the amount of cookie size
First Step (Caster and Butter)
Beat the caster sugar and butter that was left in room temperature until the combine well using the mixer (or whisk by hand).

It is a 'LOT' easier to use the mixer. |
Second Step (Egg Yolk and Vanilla Extract)
Put the egg yolk and vanilla extract into the mix of butter and sugar and combine the mixture well.
Put the vanilla extract and egg yolk into the mixture together. |
Third Step (Put the Flour in Three Times)
Put the flour little by little (I measure it 3 times) to avoid the flour from being messy in the mixer. Please be very careful on the speed of the mixer, use the minimum directly after you put the flour and only increase it to mid or maximum speed after it is mixed well enough.
Put the flour in, little by little so it won't get your kitchen messy. |
Fourth Step (Bicarbonate Soda and Cocoa Powder)
Insert bicarbonate soda and cocoa powder into the mixture inside of the mixer. And make sure that all the ingredients mix very well. Please do check your mixture.
Fifth Step (Nuts)
When the mixture is perfect, insert the nuts (almond/hazelnut/walnut etc.) of your choice into it. You can choose whether to mix it with spoon, spatula or even mixer. I used the mixer because I mistakenly sliced the walnut a little bit big. Just make sure you use the mixer on the minimum speed because you don't want your nuts to be blended and crushed into the mixture.

Choose your preferred type of nuts (I chose Walnuts) |
Sixth Step (Chocolate Chips)
Next, put the chocolate chips into the mix. I only mix them using my hands and spoon because I am a little bit worried that blending it with the mixer would cause the chocolate chips to melt.
Put the chocolate chips in (You can actually put as much as your heart's desire) |
Seventh Step (Into the Tray)
Put the mixture into the tray using the ice-cream scoop (if available) or spoon and put it into the tray that is layered with parchment paper (if available). If you don't have parchment paper, just spread some margerine or butter or even oil onto the tray so that the cookies won't stick and it's easier to clean.
Place the parchment paper to avoid it being stick and use ice-cream scope to measure the size of cookies (if available). |
Place the cookies a bit distanced from one another because it would be puff up. |
Eighth Step (Bake It)
Place the tray filled with the dough into the oven and bake it 150 degree celsius for about 15 minutes (but it depends on the power and size oven your oven and the size of your cookies). Just make sure you check it at times so that it would not be burnt.
The baked cookies, very delicious and crispy. |
And the cookies are done. Thus, ending the recipe of Famous Amos Inspired Chocolate Biscuits. Hopefully this recipe would help you fellow readers that L.O.V.E. this cookie. You could actually make 53 cookies of the size but mine is a little bit big, if you make the cookies smaller in size, you could get a lot more.
That is all from me for this time and thank you so much for reading this blog.
Yours sincerely.
