Hello and good day fellow readers.
Today I'm going to make a review on Shiseido Senka Series Mineral Water UV Gel SPF50 PA+++. It is a suncreen product to protect you from the sun (obviously) and available at drugstores or pharmacy. I got mine at Watsons (Malaysia)

Extra Info:
Texture:
As stated on the packaging, it is a water-based sunscreen gel, which means it is not too thick and quite watery. As a user of this product, I did have to shake it as instructed too, and it is still quite water after being shaken. I don't have any problem with this. But if you prefect thick and consistent product for a sunscreen, then this won't do for you. The texture is also very light, and dry quite fast so you don't have to worry about waiting it to dry. Of course, it is not sticky as the claims it stated on the package.
Color:
The gel is white, however, if you put it on your face, it would not leave you being ashy-colored or having to worry about having white caste. I am quite a tanned/brown colored person, and it did not leave me being ash-colored skin after smothering this on my face when it dries up. Definitely recommending this to people with less bright/white skin.
Smell:
As stated on the bottle, Senka Mineral Water UV GEL SPF50 PA++ does not have any extra fragrance. However, it doesn't mean that it has a bad smell. For me, the smell is acceptable, you know on a chemical level of acceptance because it is fragrance free. To be even more precise, I would state that the smell quite reminds me of something like a nice-smelling glue or talc.
Packaging:
If you are a fan of bottles with caps that had to be pulled off, then this product is okay for you. But if you are a person that constantly and carelessly lose sight of the caps, I would not recommend it for you. I personally have no problem with the cap and the design as I am quite a careful person on arranging my things.
Results:
Definitely my skin feel softer after lathering this on my face. Feeling like a baby (well, almost, but not fully because I have acne scars anyway). Also because of the moisturizing effect, for sure my skin feels soft even without having me to apply extra moisturizer before putting this on my face.
Definitely. It can be used as a make up base. I am only using Aiken Talc Powder. I don't frequently use compact powder or other type of powder, but I did use it once in a while with this sunscreen (Pixy Compact Powder), and the result is pretty great, but do be reminded, I am not really fond of cosmetic products. If you are searching for a base that had a good coverage like a concealer in a bottle of sunscreen then this is not for you.
I'm not really sure of the effectiveness against UVA and UVB of this product. This is due to the fact that i'm not really a person that loves to stroll under a hot sunny day in Malaysia. This is also due to the fact that I don't really have a sensitive skin that would flare up under the sun. Plus, I am also naturally tanned or brown, so I can't really measure the effectiveness. I just wear sunscreen because of advice from beauty gurus in YouTube.. so yeah... I'm not sure about being a guide for the effectiveness for those that need sunscreen because of the sensitivity towards sunlight. On a side note though, Malaysia is a sunny country. It is like summer all year long unless rainy monsoon season comes.
Rating?
3.5/5.
I rate it this much because I am quite satisfied with this product as it moisturized my skin and it can also be used as a make up base. However, I have read that to measure the effectiveness of a sunscreen, it depends on the content of zinc oxide and anti-oxidants or active ingredients in a sunscreen. I could not find the percentage of the amount of zinc oxide in this product and I can't identify the anti-oxidants or active ingredients (I am not a chemist, so I am not sure about it).
However, this product rated quite high because it doesn't contain any paraben and it is also fragrance free. It is quite and extra point as most products in the market listed paraben or fragrance as part of their ingredients. And not to mention, it is not as pricey as some high-end products.
Buy this product again?
I probably would buy this product again. Well, as long as I don't find a better sunscreen without fragrance or paraben that has a high content on zinc oxide, anti-oxidants and active ingredients (of course with price consideration).
This is all for the review for this time. I hope this would help you fellow readers. Thank you very much for your time reading this.
Yours truly,
