Interview at Kadokawa GempakStarz (Digital Content Writer)

Hello and good day my fellow readers.

Today in C'est La Vie, I am going to talk on my 'trainwrecked' interview (fully because of my own bad decisions and choice of things, and nervous with panic feels) at Kadokawa Gempakstarz. Now I have very nice childhood memory of Gempak Starz Magazines and Manga, therefore, I was quite EXCITED for this.

My failure, my fault, now I'm sobbing in corner as I blow my chances to impress for a job like that..
After further consideration, and many, many disappointing thoughts, I am sure won't be called for a second interview... I am very much sure of this.. Although the interview was just yesterday....

O' Lord, give me strength as my terrible performance at the interview really filled me with self-regret.

I seriously need to stop sobbing over this....

Before I start the process of how I got the call for the interview, I would explain where the interview takes place which is Kadokawa Gempakstarz in Bandar Tasik Selatan.

Kadokawa Gempakstarz (Malaysia)

Kadokawa Gempak Starz
Gempak Starz

LOCATION:
17 & 19, Jalan 8/146, Bandar Tasik Selatan, 57000 Kuala Lumpur
(if you are trying to use Waze or Google Map, just type 'Art Square Creation' look at ones that is at Bandar Tasik Selatan.)
It is also easily identified as the building is black/dark grey colored. No worries missing it.
Tel : 03-90570790
The black/dark grey one is Gempak Starz Office.

Ok, shall we begin from how I applied for the position as a Digital Content Writer? We shall commence right now.

Of course the main hub for job seekers is Jobstreet, for sure. And that is where I found the ads for the vacancy of 'Digital Content Writer' in Kadokawa Gempak Starz. Nothing special, not the high-voltage 'cables' like some people practice these days, just the old fashion roll-the-dice and try. If you are searching for a career, then it is up to luck I guess with the vacancy? Anyways, I sent the resume through Jobstreet and I heard back from Kadokawa Gempak Starz within a week, if I am not mistaken. I also applied for just 'Content Writer' position, but unfortunately, I haven't heard back from that, only for Digital Content Writer.

The people from Kadokawa Gempak Starz called me and asked me if I was still interested with the job and obviously, like a greedy pig, I said yes, straight ahead. The person that called me asked which date I would be available, and I wasn't sure as I was quite busy, and she sent me an email on the date. You could try and ask to be changed on a later date, however, it depends on the schedule of the people. So, I was appointed on 2017, July 3rd. (Be reminded that the date was informed to me a day or two before Eid Fitr so, I was very much busy).

So, I was busy and it was very hectic during Eid celebration with all the weddings of my friends to attend, and my parents having this Open House during Eid, I did  not have all the time to practice in the end. Definitely my fault for being unprepared.

I headed to Kadokawa Gempak Starz office at Bandar Tasik Selatan at 1:00 P.M., July, 3rd, and went straight there (the car park is quite full, I ended up paying RM4.00/entry car park at the back). Unfortunately, because if was the lunch hour, I was told by the guy on the intercom to come at 1:30 P.M. So, you can't wait at that place unless the person welcomes you. I walked to Old Town Coffee and prepare myself there, but it was loud and as you readers expected, not so much of a preparation I guess.

I was at Kadokawa Gempak Starz at 1:45 P.M. and welcomed by the receptionist, who informed me to go upstairs to the first floor. There, I waited and was given a form to fill in. Some remarks that I would share in the form is that, you have to know your weight and height, if you have EPF or SOCSO, the references that you might want to find earlier, Maybank Account (if available), License Number, and why you would want to join the company. There are some other basic information you have to give like your employers and experience, but basically others are basic things. I would also like to tell you guys to be prepared with a photo (passport sized) as the form requires that.  Unfortunately, I did not come prepared with the photo. Oh yeah, another point is the expected salary, this, I just use the Jobstreet on how much I could expect because it stated above expected salary. I think I wrote RM2,300, which it is negotiable, but I did not put it so low. Maybe I am not worth it RM 2,300? More or most perhaps LESS? but I just tried. Who knows right?

I waited for a few minutes after handing in the forms to be checked by the receptionist and I was escorted to the second floor for the interview. Now, it was surprising as the room was a meeting room with many... I SAY ALL the manga that is published by Gempak Starz. You can choose to read the manga or practice for the interview. I was unfortunately too nervous, so, I chose to be ready and prepare myself by practicing the interview. (There goes all my chances to read all the manga).

All at my back and I didn't have enough time... I love the manga. I collected them especially the horror ones.

I was welcomed by a lady named Sam, I guess she is the HR manager, and a very pleasant and calm lady. The interview was one-on-one, no other panels, just me and her. She interviewed me and told me to calm down as I was a trainwreck during the interview. She asked me about some information, such as what do I do besides being a tutor, why I chose the position or whether I have some experience translating. But the bad part was when I was asked to introduced myself in Japanese, now, that.... that is A WRECKING BALL to the interview as I did not know what was getting into me. But hell, all my practice just got flushed down into the invisible drain or sewage. I did not get it! Why I was turning into that???? It is all my fault. The combination of panic and the impending nervous feelings morphed me into some sort of oblivion state of mind.

After that, I was given a piece of paper to answer all the questions. (Type the answers in the computer provided)

The four questions are (not the exact lines, but what they sort of mean):
1. Translate an article (Interview A) -fully with kanji which I am really bad with- into English.
2. Translate another article (Article A) - fully with kanji- into English.
3. What do you think of Japan and the culture? Write the things you know and why, preferably in English? (less than 1500 words)
4. How you would introduce a person on Japan's culture, preferably in Bahasa Malaysia. (less than 2000 words)

Now, in the interview, I was given unlimited time. However, due to the fact that I have a friend waiting for me, and had to work tomorrow, I had to end it early. I started somewhere maybe in 3:00 P.M. and ended somewhere in 5:30 P.M. That was my downfall and I just written some of it. Sadly, I think I won't be getting a pass for the second interview. Though, it wasn't mentioned, I just know. With the quality of my performance, which I am unsatisfied with, I am convinced that I won't even get the second interview call.

Now I am drowning in the sea of 'Treppenwitz' (German) or 'l'esprit de l'escalier' (French) of my failures... sadly, I pretty much sure still hoping, but not with that quality of an interview. But the past is the past, no need to be Vergangenheitsbewaltigung (as the German says), just go on.

SOOOOOO.. after the interview, I drove straight to Dungun, Terengganu and drown in my own misery of my undoing doing the interview. Well, my friend, Waheda and I stopped at a few RNR such as Genting Sempah, Temerloh, Gambang and Kuantan. Mainly because we were hungry at Genting Sempah and the others, I was tired and sleepy. I'd rather consider safety first as it would endanger not only me, but others by my side. I slept at all other RNR  we stopped after Genting Sempah.

1:00 A.M. early in the morning feeling tired, sleepy and crazy at RNR Gambang.
Reached home at 4:30 A.M. Yes.. long drive ain't it? But is all the truth. I was.. disappointed with myself, I should have performed better. But yeah, let me just end my post on C'est La Vie at this point. No need to go on hearing my further ramblings on my own failures. Ciaooo... and thank you for reading.

P/s: The employees at Kadokawa Gempak Starz are super friendly. Two thumbs up for their warm welcome.

Thank you for welcoming miserable me Kadokawa Gempak Starz Employees.. Two thumbs up for you.
